If you don’t follow me on Instagram, you probably don’t know that I turned 21 yesterday. Here in the United States, that means I can legally drink. At lassst, I’ve aged out of birthdays to look forward to.
I figured y’all could share in my celebration through books (duh). These are 21 of my favorite books on (the day after) my 21st birthday. And don’t worry, I kept the descriptions down to a badly explained one-sentence plot.
1.A Darker Shade of Magic

There’s four Londons, and it’s not what you think.
2. The Bookseller

This girl is living two lives and doesn’t know which is real.
3. Me Before You

Pure love and heartbreak.
4. The Road

Dad and son are on a road trip across America.
5. All the Bright Places

Violet and Finch are perfect and amazing.
6. The Little Prince

So many life lessons, all from an alien living on an asteroid.
7. The Outsiders

You’ll want to go buy a white t-shirt and leather jacket after this book.
8. Six of Crows

Brilliant group of friends takes on a heist.
9. Crooked Kingdom

The first book was great, and the plot twists only get better from there.
10. Savvy

A girl and her family have crazy magical powers, and it’s amazing.
11. Outlander

All the genres perfectly rolled into one.
12. A Court of Thorns and Roses

Magical quests and cute boys: What more could a girl want?
13. Water for Elephants

Boy runs away to the circus and it goes really well, and then really bad.
14. The Hunger Games

The OG dystopian queen, what more need I say?
15. Wuthering Heights

Gives definition to dark romance vibes (at least there’s no wife in an attic).
16. The Lightning Thief

The reason every kid became a Greek mythology expert.
17. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

Funny and sad at the same time… how is that possible?
18. Animal Farm

Peeewsh! (That was the sound of my brain exploding.)
19. The Mysterious Benedict Society

Just put this book in a middle schooler’s lap and watch magic happen.
20. Looking for Alaska

John Green’s best book. That’s it.
21. Mrs. Dalloway

All I have to say: Virginia Woolf is queen of stream of consciousness.
What are some of your favorite books? Let me know if one made my list!
Great list of books!
I have read some of these books but not all. Love the one-line synopsis of each book; insightful and witty!
